Adam Grimes' Favorite Entry Triggers

An entry trigger is a specific event that tells you it's time to enter a trade. Adam Grimes has a set of reliable entry triggers that he uses to time his entries with precision. Here are a few of his favorites:

The Breakout

A breakout occurs when the price breaks above a resistance level or below a support level. This is a sign that the trend is likely to continue in the direction of the breakout. Grimes looks to enter on breakouts with strong volume.

The Retest

After a breakout, the price will often retest the breakout level before continuing in the direction of the trend. This is a high-probability entry opportunity. Grimes looks to enter on retests that hold the breakout level.

The First Pullback

The first pullback after a new trend has been established is often the best opportunity to enter the trend. This is because the trend is still young and has a lot of room to run.

Real-World Example: BTC/USD

BTC/USD breaks out of a long-term consolidation pattern on high volume. The price then pulls back to retest the breakout level, which holds as support. This is a classic entry trigger for a long position. You would enter on the retest, with a stop below the breakout level.

Entry Trigger Rules

  • Wait for a clear entry trigger before entering a trade.
  • Combine entry triggers with other forms of analysis, such as market structure and price action.
